For Immediate Release . . . This collection contains the funniest material from the Lunatic’s thirty-year history, representing the work of more than one hundred alumni of the magazine. The book includes such articles as “The World’s Worst Opening Pick-up Lines,” “Procrastination Made Easy,” “Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About Bowling,” “How to Counterfeit Money,” “Choose Your Own Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Adventure,” and the “Clone Order Form.” Every editor-in-chief of the magazine from the last thirty years participated in the book project, along with more than one hundred alumni of the magazine. Dr. Seuss Enterprises granted permission for the Lunatic to reprint its “The Cat in the Frat” parody, using Dr. Seuss’s trademark character. Former National Lampoon artist B.K. Taylor, best known for his cartoon strip “Timberland Tales,” graciously drew the artwork for the cover of the book. Lunacy features parodies of the writings of such luminaries as J. D. Salinger, Plato, Voltaire, William Shakespeare, Shell Silverstein, James Thurber, and William F. Buckley. The book also contains a smattering of magazine parodies, from Playboy to The National Review. The Cornell Lunatic calls the compendium “the finest use of paper and ink in the known universe” and notes that readers receive a free sales receipt with every purchase. Besides the Lunatic’s own glowing review, Roget’s Thesaurus says: “Brilliant, scintillating, sparkling, sprightly, keen.”
